Payment Options

At Empowering Change, we believe in providing high-quality, personalized therapy that is tailored to your individual needs. Our rates reflect the expertise, specialized training, and years of experience that our therapists bring to their work.

Private Pay Rates

  • Associate/Pre-Licensed Therapists: $125 per session

  • Fully Licensed Therapists (up to 9 years of experience): $150 per session

  • Senior/Expert Therapists (10+ years of experience): $175-$200 per session

  • Owner/Clinical Director: $175-200 per session

Private pay allows for greater flexibility and confidentiality in your care. Private pay clients receive therapy without the limitations of insurance requirements, such as session limits or mandated diagnoses. Investing in private pay therapy ensures that your treatment is fully tailored to your goals, not dictated by insurance guidelines.

Insurance & Accessibility

We understand that therapy is an investment, and we want to make it as accessible as possible. We accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Capital Blue Cross, Highmark, IBX, Oscar, Geisinger, Quest and Allied Trades Assistance Program, which may cover a portion or all of your session fees. If we are out-of-network with your provider, we can provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement. We also utilize Mentaya, a service that gets you automatic reimbursements for therapy if possible.

Why Choose Private Pay?

  1. Personalized Care: You and your therapist set the course of treatment, not your insurance provider.

  2. No Diagnosis Required: Insurance requires a formal diagnosis, which may not always be necessary for your care.

  3. Flexible Treatment Length & Frequency: Sessions are scheduled based on your needs, without external limitations.

If you have any questions about fees, insurance, or payment options, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help you find the best approach for your care.

FAQ

  • Therapy is an investment—in your mental health, your relationships, and your future self. It does take both time and resources, but here’s the truth: waiting to get the right support often costs more in the long run.

We want starting therapy to feel doable, not stressful. Here’s how we make it easier:

    • We accept credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards.

    • We can guide you through getting out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance (so you can get some of your money back).

    • We accept certain insurance plans and offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots.

Think of it this way: your well-being is worth far more than the price of a session. We’ll help you find the most manageable way to make it happen—because money shouldn’t be the reason you don’t get support.

  • If you’re asking the question, there’s probably something worth exploring. Therapy isn’t just for “crises” or “broken” people (spoiler: there’s no such thing). It’s for anyone who wants more clarity, better coping skills, and a deeper sense of connection—with yourself and others. You don’t have to wait until you’re at rock bottom to start climbing.

  • We won’t make you lie down on a couch and spill your deepest secrets (unless you want to). The first session is really about getting to know you—what’s going on, what’s important to you, and what you’re hoping to change or understand. We’ll ask questions, listen closely, and start shaping a plan that feels right for you. Think curious conversation.

  • We’d love to give you a clear number, but the truth is—it’s a little like asking, “How long will it take to learn something new that really matters to me?” It depends on your goals, your pace, and what’s happening in your life outside of sessions.

Some people come for a few months to work through a specific challenge. Others find that ongoing therapy helps them stay grounded, supported, and growing.

We’ll check in on your goals along the way to make sure you’re getting what you need and that the work we’re doing is moving you toward where you want to be.

  • Yes! We see clients across the lifespan. Kids who need help expressing big feelings. Teens who feel misunderstood (and parents trying to understand them). Adults trying to break old patterns or navigate life changes. Relationships that feel stuck or disconnected. If it’s part of the human experience, we’ve probably worked with it.

  • The relationship you have with your therapist is one of the biggest predictors of success in therapy. If it’s not feeling like a good fit, we want you to say so—no awkward ghosting required. We can help you find another therapist, either within our team or outside of it. The goal is for you to feel truly supported.
